The task at hand was to define a Go-To-Market Strategy for Enterprise digital security solutions to enhance Sales in a specific location of a subsidiary of the company. Being a fresher, I was both nervous and excited about my first day of work and had imagined the day several times in my head.
I was pleasantly surprised as from day one, I was given complete ownership of my project. I had the freedom to ideate & co-create strategies for its implementation with the sales team. The consistent mentorship & feedback received from my manager helped me gain understanding about the world of B2B sales & key accounts. The work culture fostered an environment for learning, experimenting & the senior leadership was always approachable. Diverse exposure & a platform to create & test strategies coupled with supportive mentors made my summer intern experience invaluable & insightful, thus fueling my self-belief & helping me deliver beyond expectations.
I have the following key takeaways:
I) Don’t expect to know the answers immediately from the start. Adopt a mindset to learn & grow.
II) Seek help if you feel stuck.
II) Have confidence in yourself.
IV) Be dedicated to your work & success will be a natural consequence.

My internship was engaging and a great learning experience to say the least. I worked on real estate deals spanning different types of assets. The work ranged from developing models for project valuations to looking at the measures the firm took to improve the operations of these assets. I got opportunities to visit different sites and get live exposure by interacting with various industry stakeholders. At the same time I got a chance to be exposed to the financing aspect of deals and how the nitty gritties are negotiated. The team and work culture of the firm is very transparent and supportive. I got to learn about each element involved in such deals with a mix of finance, legal and startegy , which was certainly a new and important exposure for me.
Overall, My internship helped me get a holistic view on how private equity evaluate deals and that every opportunity is a learning experience.
To prepare for the summer internship process, I recollected my basic concepts in finance, account and economics. My past preparation for CFA helped. It is important to read daily news of markets and keep yourself aware of the economic environment of the country and world.

I interned as a Business Operations Intern and was responsible for launching a new product across 7 cities in India. My internship took me through various domains involved in launching a product: starting from demand analysis for the driver & rider side, setting the Go To Market strategy, establishing the pricing and testing the product features before the launch. All of these activities demanded me to liaison with various other functions across the world. Having a regular cadence set up with the assigned buddy and manager helped me course correct the direction in which the project was going. Also, taking a written recommendation from all the stakeholders who supported me during the project helped to form a good perception of myself to the reviewers and decision-makers.
My experience was enriching with opportunity to understand about the workings of the company’s marketplace and exhilarating with endeavor to navigate one of the most complex Industries of today.
For General Management related Group Discussions & Personal Interviews, be the jack of all trades (domains). Keep your preparation focused for all the domains like Marketing, Consulting, Finance etc., and at least be a master of the basic level questions of all the domains.

Based out of the North branch in Gurgaon, my summer internship project involved devising a traditional wholesale channel growth strategy to keep it relevant amidst the emergence of modern wholesale channels like eB2B and cash & carry. There was no one brand or product assigned to me for the focus of my sales strategy; therefore, it involved a lot of market workings for me. These market workings, I would say, gave me a real in-depth knowledge of the FMCG world and the problems it faces due to multiple channel conflicts. My interactions with the distributors, wholesalers, and retailers in the various mandis and non-mandis of Delhi and even Varanasi and Allahabad helped me properly benchmark Colgate-Palmolive products against its competitors. The early recommendations given by me for the optimization of the traditional wholesale channel were also pilot tested by me at the end, which was an added initiative taken by me in comparison to my peers, which I think provided me with an edge. My two months’ experience with this project helped me immensely in my 4th term course on sales & distribution.
Overall, my experience was filled with a lot of travel and on-the-ground learning, which I could also test in the end with some positive trend results.
In respect with the preparation for interviews, I watched a lot of innovative and creative advertisements to quote as examples. I spent time practicing a lot of marketing cases with group in terms of new product launch, relaunch or any crisis situation. Also, I prepared myself thoroughly with situation based questions based on my previous work and academic experience.

I had the opportunity to work with FinIQ Consulting during the summers of 2022. It was an enriching experience given that the underlying sector of the company was Finance with software development. But the internship was a combination of almost everything we had learnt in the MBA. The projects given, as per some asset classes, for the duration of the Internship included building financial knowledge, preparation of product UI/UX & user documents, Identifying Regions to enter & Competitor Analysis, Pricing of the product along with Creating Marketing & Sales strategies. Along with this, there was also an opportunity to venture into specific departments, if we were interested, like core mathematical or legal aspects. Some business issues were thrown at us from time to time to get a quick & innovative solution. The overall experience was unique. We were provided work in groups as well as individual level. The company culture seemed enthusiastic and lively with many sports and cultural activities going on throughout the internship
On the preparation for summer internship front, I believe focusing on the preparation of Consulting, even if you are not that interested, will help you build the thought process of handling any problem during the internship. Apart from that, focus on 1-2 specific sectors and have in-depth knowledge about them. Keeping up with Current affairs helps. In the end, be open to whatever comes to you. Treat this as a good opportunity to experiment.
Lastly, I would like to live with you two messages – First, there is nothing like your own Scope of Work, you must know and be able to do everything. Secondly, building networks and having good relations with everyone is important in the industry.
