My internship was engaging and a great learning experience to say the least. I worked on real estate deals spanning different types of assets. The work ranged from developing models for project valuations to looking at the measures the firm took to improve the operations of these assets. I got opportunities to visit different sites and get live exposure by interacting with various industry stakeholders. At the same time I got a chance to be exposed to the financing aspect of deals and how the nitty gritties are negotiated. The team and work culture of the firm is very transparent and supportive. I got to learn about each element involved in such deals with a mix of finance, legal and startegy , which was certainly a new and important exposure for me.
Overall, My internship helped me get a holistic view on how private equity evaluate deals and that every opportunity is a learning experience.
To prepare for the summer internship process, I recollected my basic concepts in finance, account and economics. My past preparation for CFA helped. It is important to read daily news of markets and keep yourself aware of the economic environment of the country and world.
